One out of every ten to thirteen new mothers experience some sort of depression after childbirth.  Bringing home a new baby is full of excitement and joy.  It is also a time of transition and can be chaotic. A new mother has an overwhelming transformation to adjust to, including physical, hormonal, and emotional changes. Although feelings of sadness, exhaustion, apprehension, and anxiety are considered normal during the postpartum period, when these feelings linger or worsen, the new mother may very well be experiencing postpartum depression.
